Elizabeth’s mission has always been to inspire and empower every child and teacher with the power of words and story; creating a thread that connects them to each other and the world. She has taught students and led teachers for over 25 years. Regardless if collaborating with adults or children, Elizabeth meets everyone where they are and passionately takes on the role of coach, collaborator, consultant, and friend.
Elizabeth started in a diverse school just outside of Chicago. It was there that she quickly became a teacher leader, joined the district literacy team, scored district writing assessments, and created a multi-grade tutoring club supporting both her school and community.
Once her family relocated to Colorado, she became a fourth-grade teacher in the esteemed Cherry Creek School District. During this time, she joined the Colorado State Board of Education Sub Committee collaborating with elementary teachers from across the state to create reading and writing standards. Eventually, Elizabeth was hired in the coveted position of S.T.A. R. Mentor providing endless one on one support to first-year teachers. She helped organize and facilitate learning labs and field trips using observational protocols and norms to ensure transfer of learning once teachers returned to their classrooms. With a focus on student engagement, class management, and literacy, these field trip learning labs provided the vital time and space for teachers to reflect, collaborate, and grow in their craft.
When her term as mentor was completed, Elizabeth was hired as an Elementary Literacy Coordinator for the Cherry Creek School District. She was honored to meet and collaborate with principals and district leaders and committed to creating professional learning opportunities for teachers, teams, and buildings focusing on growing literacy achievement for all students, regardless of where they fall on the trajectory.
Elizabeth continues to teach for CCSD as a Gifted and Talented Learning teacher and works directly with kindergarten through fifth-grade students. She continually plans, collaborates, and co-teaches with classroom teachers to ensure that all children have access to rigor and joy.
EAM Collaborative combines a lifelong dedication for the content of reading and writing, along with the acquired skills of teacher mentoring, to bring sustainable learning capacity meeting teachers and students where they are as individuals and believing in their potential to grow.
