“ Our family traveled from our home in the Denver metro area so that our two daughters, (one in high school and one in elementary), could participate in the Young Writers’ Institute of Aspen. This proved to be the best decision of our entire year! The timing for this unique camp was perfect. We ended up staying in Snowmass and were easily able to drop the kids off at 9 and pick them up at 12. The campus at the Aspen Community School is spectacular and both girls talked about there being no better environment to find inspiration for their writing. The instructors made the writing experiences fun, engaging and meaningful. We witnessed the benefits of this creative immersive camp experience when we returned to the school year. Our older daughter shared how she applied the writing techniques and strategies taught from camp whenever she was stuck with writing assignments. Our younger daughter continues to drag us to Home Depot so she can collect sample paint chips in order to create small poems based on the paint chip lesson she learned at camp. There is simply no doubt this camp provides countless opportunities for kids to find their voice and experience writing in fun, non-threatening and creative ways. Kids have opportunities to make friends not only from the Aspen area, but from other states as well. The Friday Sharing Day was a powerful opportunity for parents and family members to come hear what the kids created in such a short amount of time. We can’t wait to return this summer!”
